About this website

I, Guido van Gageldonk, operate Technalist as a personal website and am responsible for the processing of personal data described below. For questions, email guido@technalist.com.

Your visit

This website is hosted by STRATO. Its pages contain no first-party analytics trackers, and it has no contact form. Contact buttons open your email application.

During a visit, STRATO processes technical information including your IP address, requested pages and files, timestamps and browser details. STRATO uses log information for security, service provision and usage statistics. According to STRATO, full IP addresses are retained for up to seven days to detect and defend against attacks.

My hosting package provides usage statistics, access logs covering the past six weeks and error logs covering the past five days. STRATO states that visitor hostnames and IP addresses are displayed in anonymised form in the access logs. These availability periods are not a promise about deletion of all underlying data.

Contact by email

When you email me, I use your contact details and the contents of your message to handle your enquiry. I use Google’s Gmail for this. When handling correspondence, I may use my AI assistant Jarvis from OpenAI on a case-by-case basis. The information used for that assistance is also processed by OpenAI. Please share only information needed for your enquiry.

I normally keep completed contact enquiries and the related correspondence for 12 months after the enquiry has been handled. I periodically clear this correspondence. Information needed for an agreement, a dispute or a legal administrative obligation may be kept longer where necessary.

LinkedIn posts on this website

Three selected posts are always visible below the optional widget. The text and images of these cards are stored on this website; loading them does not connect your browser to LinkedIn or SociableKIT. The selection is updated manually from time to time, not automatically. The selection date is shown beside the cards. Turning the widget off does not hide these local cards.

On Home and Insights, you can load my LinkedIn posts through SociableKIT. The external widget loads only after you give consent. If valid consent from the past 180 days is saved in your browser, the feed loads automatically on a later visit.

When the widget loads, your IP address and browser details are shared with SociableKIT. External content and cookies may be loaded. SociableKIT describes processing in other countries, including the United States. Post freshness depends on the provider; a new post may take time to appear.

SociableKIT privacy · LinkedIn privacy

Links to LinkedIn open its external website, where LinkedIn’s privacy policy applies. You can use those links without loading the widget.

Remembering and changing your choice

Your choice for the external feed is saved in your browser’s local storage with its timestamp and the settings version. The website uses saved consent for up to 180 days, then asks for consent again. The saved data remains until your choice is overwritten or you clear it through your browser.

You can withdraw consent using Turn off beside the feed or through Posts display settings in the footer. An active feed is then turned off by reloading the page. This does not undo earlier processing; third-party cookies may remain in your browser.

If your browser cannot save your choice, consent applies only to the open page. A choice to turn the feed off is carried through navigation using this website’s links.

Your privacy rights

You can ask which personal data is processed about you and request correction or deletion. Depending on the circumstances, you can also request restriction or transfer of your data, or object to processing. Email guido@technalist.com to make a request.

You can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority, Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
